Default 03 Grand Cherokee. Turn signal problems!!

WOW, my first time on the forum and I'm asking for help already.

We have an 03 Grand Cherokee Overland. About 3 months ago the left turn signal quit working all the time. About 50% of our drive time the left blinker wouldn't work at all, other times it worked fine. It was totally intermittent, so we couldn't figure out where to start looking. We've never had any trouble with the right indicator. A couple of days ago I was driving down the road and the left turn light on my dash turned on, but wouldn't turn off. I tried the right turn indicator and it would blink one time and then shut off. Luckily we live in Eastern Tennessee, and nobody else here uses their tune indicators, so not having them working would more than likely never be noticed by anybody here. When I need to rent a U-Haul trailer the lights must work, so I'm really in need of fixing this problem.

I now have no emergency flashers either.
When I shut the Jeep off and pulled the keys the left turn lights stayed on full time. I tried everything to get them to turn off. I finally had to resort to pulling the fuse for the turn signals. Thankfully the brake lights still work!

Can somebody possibly give me a lead on what part or parts I should be looking for to either replace or repair? I'm color blind, so I never could handle electrical issues because of the colored wires, but with some guidance, and help form friends or family I think we can get thru it if I know what to deal with!

That's what we're here for! Welcome!

I'd be checking grounds first, as flaky grounds can do strange things. I'm sorry but I don't have a diagram of the grounds on a Grand.

Next up I'd be looking at your flasher unit, then your turn signal switch.

If you haven't fixed it already, a similar thing happened on my jeep. Usually the blinker light on the dash stays on if the light circuit for your actual blinker is open, such as if a bulb burns out. After taking apart the light housing thinking I needed to change my bulb, I found that the wire connecting to the bulb attachment had broken off in such a way that it would sometimes touch where it was supposed to, hence it sometimes working. For that, I soldered it back on, and put some hot glue around it for strength.

I checked each turn bulb wiring, and everything is still as tight as a tick. I pulled and reinserted the blinker relay and it seems to be working now.
I have to use the Jeep today so I'll see how it goes.
