04 WJ Won’t Start
Good Day to you all. Been lurking for a couple years but first time posting with my own issue.
04 Gran Cherokee Laredo
4.0 / 6 cyl
Standard, no non stock additions.
Issue:
Wife drove home after a day of shopping. Pulled into drive, got out and everything was fine/normal. Went back out to go somewhere else and it won’t start. Says there was no noise or clicking just won’t start.
I get home and I find that the above is true, but I do hear the fuel pump start, and gauges work/lights up.
Things I have checked:
battery/posts- good, fully charged, and a year old, posts cleaned and replaced.
engine ground - tight no corrosion.
Ignition: pulled cylinder and same issue when trying to crank with a screwdriver. No noticeable wiring issues/burnt/melted etc.
Fuzes: Anything related to ignition was pulled and checked (#’s 20, 21, 22, 31, 32, 33.)
No codes on ODC reader.
Tried just throwing money at it, replaced:
Starter
Starter Relay
Have 11.9v at starter with key on.
Neutral Safety Switch - it’s in proper, cleaned connector and backup lights work.
Same situation as the first. No start, no action except fuel pump start. Wondered if starter isn’t getting voltage. I’m not in anyway a mechanic but I thought I could try jumping the starter. Tried using a jumper cable between the starter hot side and the battery. No noise from starter. Don’t know if it would work or not, just trying stuff at this point.
Any Pro Tips would be appreciated and adored.
