I am having trouble confirming what transmission my jeep has. I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 inline 6. I need to know what transmission I have to answer my next question. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why the transmission would be slipping when trying to shift from 1st to 2nd after takeoff. I have checked the transmission fluid and that is right where its supposed to be. I haven't noticed any leaks coming from the transmission in the 4 years I've had it. The problem is relatively new, having only started within the last couple of years. It's gotten worse over the last couple of months. I notice it more when I'm in a town with high elevation and lots of hills. Any advice or knowledge is appreciated.

You've got either a 42RE. I believe that also has a shift cable from the throttle body that can be checked and adjusted.

The trans is a 42RE. It's throttle valve cable adjustment is way different than the XJ and way more critical to set spot on.
I haven't adjusted mine in years and I don't remember the procedure.
