1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Car Alarm Issue
Hey everyone, Happy Halloween!
I’ve been having this problem now for about 2 weeks, and it is so frustrating. Usually when I use my fob to wirelessly lock my jeep it makes a horn noise signaling my alarm is set. Then one night at 1am my alarm starts going off, so I run outside to make sure no one is breaking in because the alarm rarely goes off. Nobody is out there, so I turn the alarm off and check to make sure nothing was taken. All the doors and back gate were locked so nobody got in.
Moving forward! My alarm now will go off just randomly every 4-5 hours or so and its so frustrating. I even got a call from the police saying somebody called in because my alarm had been going off for an hour when I wasn’t home. I started to manually lock the doors and not use the fob, but just a couple hours ago the alarm still went off.
Really what I’m trying to figure out is if there is a way I can turn off the security system all together. I dont need the alarms, but as long as my doors lock thats all I car about.
If anyone knows how I can turn off the security system for my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee that would be so awesome!
Thanks!

Mine did the same thing earlier this year. It was the sensor switch on the rear hatch glass. I had to remove the inner panel on the hatch and simply unplugged the switch. Problem solved. Note that it could be any of the entry switches causing it. The VIC display should show which door switch is triggered, that's how I narrowed down mine.
