1998 ZJ Laredo - Another Blower Motor Problem
Picked up a 1998 Grand Cherokee Laredo (ZJ) and the blower motor didn't work on any speed when I got it. If it was just a bad resistor, the motor should have run on high speed. I get absolutely nothing on this one. I replaced the blower motor because the squirrel cage on the old one was held on with JB weld. Tested the old one and it still worked. I've also plugged in a new resistor, just as a troubleshooting test, and it didn't make any difference. Here's where I'm getting thrown for a loop: If I short the ground of the motor to a good body ground, then the motor takes off 100%. The switch on the dash doesn't control the speed, the motor is just going on 100%. The Haynes manual I have doesn't have a good wiring diagram, and all the results I get from an internet search are way to generalized or not even the correct year. Any help running this down would be greatly appreciated. -E
