1999 jeep Grand cherokee 4.7 v8
i have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee 4.7 v8...it has been broke down for six months or longer...it has 148k miles on it...i have changed the sparkplugs an the crank sensor...when i changed the crank sensor the pigtail broke an had to splice the wires....i have scanned it with an scan tool an i have gotten no codes...i have ran my jeeps self diagonistic an i have gotten no codes...it runs real rough like it is not firing on all cylinders but i have not gotten a misfire code or nothing...i thought tht the caddy might have been stopped up so i cut it off an still nothing...i have looked for vacum leaks an cant see any..as far as i cant tell...when it is ideling an u give it gas it trys to shuts off...if u put it in reverse or drive it will almost or will shut off....the coil packs look good....but tht means nothing....any suggestions????????????????

Just some background. What happened 6 mos. ago when it broke down? Is it possible you got some fuel contamination? Is your fuel pressure good?

Come on back, bud. I see you're still online.

Sounds like it may be fuel contamination or a plugged filter. Check your fuel pressure at the rails.

Welcome to CF. You said you replaced the crank sensor. Was it in the rear near the starter? That's the crank sensor. There's also a cam sensor on the right front of the engine attached to the right head on the side, below the rocker cover.
^I agree with Dave on the fuel issue. Could be bad gas from sitting for so long.

Electronic's
ECM'S, PCM'S, TCM'S. ECU'S. Sensor's here sensor's there, sensor's everywere and were you think there should be a sensor there isn't(Auto Shutdown sensor)= electronic's. Very time consuming to trouble shoot.
I have had costly problems with a design flaw in there elelctronics. Please review, may come in handy some day. It is inevetable(going to happen sooner or later)

if theres alot of unburnt gas, it might not be hitting on all cylinders. at least thats my guess. i would check continuity and resistance of the coil packs. pick up a FSM and it should have the resistance specs in it. before all that i would flush the fuel system and put fresh in

Your codes P130 and P136 still show problems with the 02 sensor circuits. Check for broken or shorted wires leading to the sensors.
