Default 1999 WJ engine rebuild

Greetings all! I have the opportunity to purchase a 1999 Grand Cherokee Limited V8 for $3,500. It's in very good shape and comes with an uninstalled lift kit (combination of OME, Rancho, and Trail Forged parts). The seller claims he can't keep the engine running so I'm guessing the worst case scenario might be an engine rebuild. I've never worked on a Jeep, but I've rebuilt VW, Toyota, Subaru, and Datsun engines in the past. So, I'm checking with you experienced folks to see if there's something that might make the rebuild of this engine a nightmare or if there's anything important I need to be aware of. Also, are there recommendations for suppliers or brands of rebuild kits? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

3500 with a known bad 4.7 is really high. I just picked up a strong running 02 WJ for $2k. Granted interior is a bit rough and its bone stock, but fairly low miles and mechanically everything is looking good. I suppose if you really want THIS WJ, then maybe it is worth it. I've looked into rebuilding the 4.7 (haven't done it myself) and it looks like a fairly easy motor to work on - especially given your previous motor building experience.
