2000 WJ pdm / key fob swap question
So I have been reading up on the pdm and key fobs for my 2000 WJ. My question is if I have 2 2000 WJs can I swap the pdm from on to the other without issues? I have my 2000 and a parts vehicle that has working pdm and key fob. I was hoping to be able to swap it over so I can have a key fob for my daily driver. Am I correct or is there more that will need to be done?
thanks,
Max

I imagine Dave1123 may have some helpful info for you. . All I can do point you to the following reference link for info on the RKE system, (remote keyless entry). http://wjjeeps.com/sentry.htm

I wouldn't try swapping the PCM, but the RKE receiver is in the passenger's door screwed to the back of the panel. That you could swap and get to work with your key fobs. Each fob transmits it's own signal code sequence and the RKE receiver must be programmed to recognize it. SO... the receiver from the parts jeep is matched to the fobs already and should work. If not, you can get them programmed by a dealer.
I think the limits are 6 keys for the SKIM and 10 fobs for the SKE receiver.

Is it on the door panel or behind the door shell? I may just swap the whole door panel if that is where it is attached. Is it part of the window switch assembly on the passenger side?

IDK. The FSM says it's mounted on the passenger's side door plastic panel with screws. I've never had mine apart to know for sure. I'm assuming it's separate from the window/lock switch. There are 3 screws as well as snap pins holding the panel on. One is under a button plug near the mirror, one is behind the door latch handle, and one is in the bottom of the pull handle cup.
