Please watch the video to hear the sound. Better than what I can describe here. Any ideas appreciated!!
I had someone who's a mechanic tell me he thought it sounded like a spun rod or a lost main bearing. I was hoping it was just a damaged flex plate as I had the transmission and the started replaced within the last 2 years and wondered if that didn't have something to do with it.

That happened to me once and it made an unnerving racket, almost like fingernails on a chalkboard. I found that a flex plate bolt had backed-out. Transmission service had been performed several months, or a couple thousand miles prior. I opened the inspection plate and observed each bolt as I "bumped" the starter. One bolt-head was in sad shape from scraping but remained in the hole (by 1-2 threads) so I chased the threads and replaced it, the others were very under-torqued, all of them got a dose of thread-locker. Needless to say I was glad that I acted on it when I first heard it.
