Default 2004 GC Tranny issues?

Yesterday, drove about a mile then rpms went high like tranny slipped out, I let off the gas pedal and it went back into gear. 5 miles down the road and I take off from a light and it didnt want to shift up out of first. I drove it home slowly, checked the fluid and it seems to be at the right level. seemed a bit "foamy" if anything. What should I do? what can I check? P1762 code.

P1762 is governor pressure sensor voltage too high or too low. Are you checking the fluid level in Neutral? This is necessary because the torque converter isn't pressurized in Park. It will drop over a quart when put into neutral. From the foam, it sounds like it's low and sucking air. Anyway, the governor pressure sensor is getting voltage readings that are out of limits meaning the governor pressure itself may be fluctuating. At least this gives you a place to start diagnosis.

If you have a V8 with the 45RFE or 545RFE transmissions, you can check it in Park.
