2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo
Just got back from having external transmission cooler installed the guy put the cooler right in front of the radiator cooling fan. It goes thru the condenser than to the external cooler which is mounted in front of the cooling fan so when the radiator hits temp the cooling fan cycles. Is this set up good for keep the transmission cool?

Old fart with a wrench
They are normally mounted over the lower portion of the condenser so that they are in the airflow thru the radiator but don't block too much of the total airflow. In other words, it should be fine.

Thanks the cooler is a hayden stacked cooler, I have always seen them mounted right in the front behind the grill. I told the guy I wanted it in series with the stock cooling, being a transmission guy I did not think to tell him to put in right in front of grill, assumed that this would be done automatically!

Ok so I remove the cooler from the radiator and mounted in front of condenser, cooling fan came on and I could feel the air flow out of the transmission cooler! Now this how it should be, the transmission guy took a short cut by mounting behind the radiator. So now I will not use this guy again, this the first time I went to him and it will the last time I will use him. Do the job right and you gain a customer but not time for me!
