Chances are the little ferule on the latch end of the cable has broken off. There's a chance you may be able to reach up from underneath and pop the latch, but it's a slim chance. Probably the dealer's body shop could tell you the best way to get it open.

I had the same thing happen on a 96 Dodge Grand Caravan and there was no way to get to the latch from underneath or thru the grill, so I tried sawing thru the loop that drops into the latch with a Sawzall between the hood and the radiator support. That loop is hardened steel and eats up saw blades. I wound up cutting a piece out of the hood sheet metal, then drilling out the 2 bolts that hold it on. I went to the junkyard and bought another hood.

I second the fact that the cable is disconnected that pops the latch when you pull on the release. Sometimes, if it is forcefully pulled, it will break, and you'll have to reattach the cable. Not a Jeep, but at the dealership I work for, we had a '15 Hyundai Sonata that had the same issue.

Thanks, I have new dorman cable in route I think it disconnect from the hood latch end. When I pull on the cable release the plastic handle is attached to cable with no resistance.
