Default 04 WJ special edition with RB1 and CD-changer speaker malfunction

Hi for the past few weeks ive had a few problems with the truck, the speaker in the driver side door would sometimes not work, after a few weeks of driving to work i had the radio on and all speakers were working until everything stopped playing music but the 2 tweeters. i brought it to a sound shop and they told me that i blew ALL my speakers and i would have to buy 4 new ones, looking at the amp and speakers themselves they look fairly new this Grand Cherokee was only owned by one owner and eberything on and in the car is extremely clean and kept that way could i have blown all four speakers without blasting music?

The front door speakers and front dash tweeters are wired in parallell, meaning that, for example, if your left front door speaker goes out, and your left front dash tweeter is still playing, then it's your left front door speaker that's gone bad. I'd say if you still have the factory amp, it may be the amp that has gone bad, and you'll need a new amp. If it's an aftermarket amp, it may be incorrect or loose wiring by the previous owner or person who did the aftermarket amp install.

If the speakers still played but sounded scratchy, then they'd be blown, but if they all go out, then something happened and they're not blown, but you'd need to do some further investigating.

Hope this helps.

Check for loose or broken wires in the flexible harness to the door. Because the amp output goes thru a transformer, a short shouldn't have blown the speaker or the amp. I would think the only thing that could have blown all the speakers at once is 12v getting into the audio output. That should have blown the tweeters also.

I saw a guy once who checked a speaker for being good by putting a 1.5v battery momentarily across the speaker terminals to get a reaction.
