Default 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee AC issues

I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 65th with a/c issues. It's only blowing cold air on the driver side and not the passenger side. Also, last week it was blowing white smoke. The jeep did not give indication of any problems, no lights, and it was not overheated. My mechanic said it was the blend doors but what about the white smoke.

Now, it only smoked for a few minutes, I turned a/c off, turned it back on an hour or so later and it stopped smoking. It only happen once.

I like to fix it myself, if someone could send me links on how to take out the dash correctly.

Is that white smoke out the tail pipe, or in the cabin?

That is weird. Is your AC still working at all? Almost sounds like you had an evaporator core leak.

Quick update:

I checked both actuator and they are working. I get air on all vents: when indicator is moved to each corresponding vent. Also, when I move the hot to cold or cold to hot **** the air temperature changes (as it should). So I can rule out blend door actuators.

I purchased a can of freon and one of uv dye. The meter indicator on the freon can (once connected) show 30 (or less than middle of green bar). I filled it to 40 (or pass the middle green bar) then put the uv dye. I didn't see any leaks but since I can't get under the Jeep, I can't rule it out. The clutch ac compressor makes a very loud noise.

What else can it be? I'm dreading it but may have to take it to the dealer.

Interesting enough, my heater works just fine, it blows good darn HOT air.

Was it making that noise before you added refrigerant?

Sorry, but I don't recall if it did.

This is kind of an important question. If it wasn't making the noise then I suspect you overcharged it and are getting liquid into the compressor. I really don't like the gauge on the can thing for that reason.

I like to say, thank you, for staying with me here.

"Oh darn" - on the overcharged it - how can I fix it?

And on another part of the subject, one actuator I didn't know about until I read the service manual is the recirculation door actuator located on the passenger side. Could this actuator be the culprit?

You could let some refrigerant out, but you didn't hear that from me

All that door does is open so you can use already cooled cabin air and get colder air out
