Default 2008 3.7 questions from a newbie

Just bought my wife a 2007 GC Laredo (advertised as a 2008, guessing it's a late '07), and I inherited a pretty good oil leak with the buy. My oil change and tune up mechanic told me it looked like a rear seal leak to him. I've done some research and found that a lot of 3.7's have leaks around the oil filter adapter, but this engine doesn't quite fit the description, as it doesn't look like it has one. It also has an oil pressure switch just above the filter, so I'm guessing the oil filter 'adapter' is not my problem. I'm wondering if these engines have may have oil pan or oil fill tube gasket leaks? I topped of the oil yesterday, and the first time I drove it (about 20 miles) the oil light was coming on periodically, even though the oil was topped off. (??) I'm now wondering if the sensor is going bad, too.
Secondly, I've got a tire warning light that sporadically decides to come on for a while but the tire pressures seem to be fine. Any recurring problems with that system on these?
Forgot to mention this rig has 122,XXX miles on it, and although I've had to replace the water pump and thermostat and am going to have to fix the oil leak, it's really in good shape and has a strong engine, it seems. Anyway, any help or answers to these problems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help or comments. Lee Butcher

The tires have pressure sensors in them that transmit radio signals to the monitor unit inside the vehicle. They have batteries in them that fail after a while. They can be damaged very easily when mounting new tires. I always though the TPSS was a waste of money and expensive to maintain. But that's my opinion.

Check the driver's door sticker to find out date of manufacture. Anything built after July will be sold as the next years production.

I don't know anything about the tpss Issues, but a good place to start when lights come on is to check grounds. Don't just look at them either, actually pull them off, clean them and put them back together. Now as for the leaks I can tell you about the 4.0 all day, but the 3.7 (I thought they were 3.6 but I may be wrong) I have no experience with. I suggest that you take a look for yourself, if you see built up oil anywhere that a good indication that your leak is under it. check the valve covers especially towards the firewall, Im not to sure if Chrysler is still using split rear main seals, but if they do and the pan is leaking you may as well do the rear main at the same time, and vice versa. If the pan needs to come of any way, you may as well do them both because it would suck to do the pan just to have the rear main go out a few miles later.

The 3.7 is a 4.7 less 2 cylinders. The 3.6 Pentastar V6 engine is a 24valve overhead cam engine that wasn't produced until 2011. MUCH better engine.
