2012 jeep Cherokee overland p0305 misfire at around 5k RPMs
Hello,
We just bought this jeep yesterday knowing that it had the hemi 'tick' and would throw a 5th cylinder misfire code at around 5k RPMs. The previous owner suggested a new cam and lifters for it. The previous owner said he did new spark plugs and changed the coils around, but never replaced them. And, as far as I know the issue still persisted at cylinder 5. He was going to put a new fuel injector on cylinder 5 but didn't get to it. He also stated that it would lose power when it through the code. The previous owner had a diablo tune on it, and the tuner didn't come with it so we had him put it back to stock tune.
Today, I took the vehicle out to test it. I made sure the car was completely still and punched it to get to 5k RPMs. The engine light would light up but then go away. I would pull over almost immediately and clear it. The last run I did I kept going after it flashed once. I hit 5k and then it shifted and I kept the pedal down til it hit around 5k again. Again the code would flash and go away. The code didn't stay on or keep flashing. During that last run I did not experience any loss of power. It kept moving as it was. I didn't hear any sounds that was concerning either.
Does this sound like a CAM and Lifter issue to you guys or hopefully more of a fuel injector issue? Is it common for the check engine light to come on then go right back off? I wouldn't even known that I had a code it didn't ding and I wasn't looking for it. It was a quick on and off.
thank you!
