Hello,

I know you say there is no heat to the floor.. Do you mean there is airflow to the floor, and that there is just no heated air going to the floor? Or, do you mean there is no airflow any at all going to the floor vents when selected? Or, is there a little bit of airflow/heat (at least some..) which is going to the floor, except most of it goes to one or both of the other vents?

Is this the first time you have ever used the heat setting to the floor, and you are just now noticing it for the first time? Or, was there a time when heat was actually going to the floor previously, and the problem you are experiencing is a new problem which has just now come about?

If heat has never went to the floor ever... there is a known problem with the wiring harness located behind the dash. Some of the newer model year Jeeps got a wiring harness installed with certain HVAC wires/circuits reversed. The result is no heat gets directed to the floor vents whenever the floor vents setting is selected due to the improperly wired harness. It is a very time consuming process to get this corrected. There should be a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) out there for this issue, specific to the VIN of your Jeep.

There is also another one or two TSBs out there for various modules having an effect on the HVAC controls. A TSB for any of the potential issues of this should be linked specifically to the VIN of your Jeep as well, if it exists... But, not always. The symptoms associated to having any one of the HVAC module issues are varied in nature. The fix is to take it to a Jeep dealer and have the service department flash software and update the HVAC module. I am not sure how it gets covered so far as the cost of doing a flash update? A TSB is not the same as a recall in this department. Many times an issue such as this would be covered to the owner under warranty.. and is not covered after the warranty has expired.

I would call a Jeep dealer and explain the symptoms, and give them the VIN of your Jeep. A dealer will be able to easily check to see if there are any TSBs/recalls on it for you.

Thanks Noah911,
There is not airflow or heat to floor. This model doesn't even have an option to direct heat to floor. That may be the problem. This Jeep is new to us...only 6 months so Winter and heater issues just got noticed. I will post more as we work through this.
thanks again,
gt

I see... When you select the floor/dash vent setting there is no airflow getting directed to the floor.

I bet it might be the faulty dash instrument panel wiring harness.

This is the part number for the correct wiring harness needed to be put in place of the one that is in there located behind the dash of any of the affected models. The whole dash needs to come out in order to replace it.

Part# for the instrument panel wiring: 68237698-AC.

Good luck.

If there is the ability to flash update the HVAC software and it is inexpensive.. I would try doing this as the first. Mainly because you do not know if the heater to the floor ever did work at any point in time. And having the dealer pull out the whole dash to replace the wiring harness would be much more time consuming and expensive.

One of the problems which may occur when having corrupted HVAC module software is to do this same type of thing over time. It can cause the floor heat to not work very well at all.. if at all, ussually in a gradual nature over time though.

UPDATE: We closed the dash vents and set fan on High. Now we can actually feel some air move at floor. Like I said, this Jeep is new to us and are learning. This is marginally ok with the lady who drives it most. I appreciate all feedback. I guess I was expecting floor air movement to be the same as from dash. We are taking it in to dealer for some maintenance and will ask if this is normal.

I think the air going to the floor should be a noticeably strong airflow. I read quite a few people noticed the same type of thing you are noticing with theirs, and they resolved it by flashing the software with an update. They said the floor heat was strong after getting it fixed.

The dealer should be able to tell you if it has the faulty dash wiring harness and/or, if it needs updating of the HVAC software per the technical service bulletin on it.
