TNK2018

I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee I bought in 2019 with Platinum coverage, currently 63K miles. I use my 2012 GC for daily driving but for longer trips I use the 2018. Earlier this week, my 83 year old mom and I had a 2 1/2 drive to get to our destination. In the morning, the A/C worked great. Coming home that afternoon, it was low 90's outside, A/C ran fine for first half hour or so, then stopped blowing. Air by the vent still felt cold and I could hear the fan running, just no air coming out. I have a little Accurite temp. guage that was registering between 89° and 91° in the cabin. If I shut the A/C off for a half hour or so and turned it back on it would run fine again for about 5-10 minutes and then stop blowing again.

Needless to say it was a hot ride back and really tough on my elderly parent. So, I brought it to the dealer yesterday and they called today and told me that "was by design". Does this sound right? By design on hot days the A/C is supposed to stop blowing air?
