I got Cragar D windows from summit. They look great and are only like $45 and they are steel, better for the trail.

Default Thornbirds suck!

I had a set of thornbirds on my old rig and you could almost get stuck in wet grass. THey look really aggressive, but if you look most places they are always on sale or really cheap cause the totally blow!!!!!!

http://www.4wheelparts.com/TT111X11120X1112012X158.aspx

Check that out!!!!!!!

Get Super Swamper TSL radials!!!! They hold up for a pretty good while on the road, they are a tried and true design and they are usually around 175 a peice. The link I gave you will ship 4 too the house for 69.95. These are the best mud tires I have found if you still want to travel on the road/highway. Any more aggressive then this and you'll slide all over the place. These tires are siped so they still grip in the rain and the snow, but are bad MoFrankys in the mud. Oh and they look BadArse

i had thornbirds on my old truck, these tires are good for one thing....looking cool when your driving around at the mall. other then that they absolutely suck in the mud, snow, ice, rain, dry asphalt. they are horrible going down the road (road noise and balancing) and to me they are very expensive (cost $800 for some 31's). i had one of them blowout on my way home (driving on the road) doing 65 and i got rid of them. i have mud terrains now, they are alot nicer all around. very little road noise (compared to the thornbirds) and alot better performance in the mud

I highly recommend the Interco Truxxus MT's. I personally think they are better performers than the BFG's and the highway ride and longevity is top of the line. They are a little pricey, but it's the "get what ya pay for" thing. If I had known I was going to enjoy my 31's as much as I did, I would have gladly paid a little more for them. They were very worth it.

heres my input on thornbirds

ive never seen a reason NOT to get them...a good friend of mine that i wheel with a lot, has 31x12.5 inch thornbirds, and they are GREAT on his XJ...and half of my jeep club, and im talking a big jeep club (over 130 jeeps) use thorbirds, and not one of those users have any complaints on them

i have yet to see why so many people on these forums dont like them...they have great, and i mean GREAT side lugs, best of any tire in my opinion...they arent that bad at cleaning out...in fact, they clean out a LOT better on my buddys XJ then my 31x10.5 MTRs clean out...

this is just my $.02

im buying myself some super swamper LTBs for the YJ...and i like the sound of loud tires going down the road...and these LTBs should be loud enough

my all terrains worked better in the mud then the thornbirds, if you think they work so good why are you going with the ltb's?

Are thornbirds good for crawing? When i look at the tread they do not seem like they would be good at all for mostly rocks.

bc its my money thats why...lol...and they are almost 100 bucks cheaper per tire...some times id rather have a TJ then my YJ, but it was more money...that doesnt mean i dont like the TJs just bc i bought a YJ

if i could find some thornbirds the the price of these LTBs, or even the price they use to be which was around 160 a tire for the 31"s, now that same tire costs around 215 bucks...but if i could find them for their old price, or lower (the LTBs are around 135 bucks per tire) then i would get them instead of the LTBs...but i dont want to spend over 200 bucks for a tire again, when the chance of me blowing another one, is very good seeing as how the YJ spends most of its life off road
