4x4 to 2 wheel drive conversion
i have a 1993 grand cherokee 5.2liter and i am looking to do a 4x4 to 2 wheel drive conversion but i don't know what all i need to replace to do this. i was thinking a A frame conversion from a dodge van or truck might work but i do not know if that would work or not? so any help or ideas would be great

to be honest in my mind i think an all time 4x4 would be a better drag racer, than just a normal 2wd
i say this because if you have 4 tires spinning for traction versus 2 tired just my opinion
im probably way wrong though

I would leave it as a 4 wheel drive. lower it an inch or two and throw some nice street tires on it.
The 4wheel drive will indeed help That is why most high end high power cars offer a 2wd version and a "quatro version"

So it's AWD, which would actually help you. There's a reason the SRT-8 blows away EVERYTHING at the launch.

i would keep it full time 4wd. just have to keep the same circumference tires all the way around. the width doesn't matter. the more traction, the quicker you'll be.
but if you really have your heart set out on it, it's a lot of work, but you would need a 2wd transmission, new rear drive shaft, either front A arms (these would have to be custom), or a 2wd front axle set up from a comanche or the like which may also need new brakes, rotors, calipers and possibly new master/booster.
on a 93, you cannot just remove the front driveshaft, you'll blow up your transfer case. (viscous coupler clutches).
good luck, and post pics...

Why not use this Jeep as a tow rig and build a real drag racer?
