How far are you going to go with it? You still want it street legal? If so converting it to a straight axle in the front would be easiest... and might be the only thing you can do if you have to go through inspection.
Also I don't know how much you can squeeze out of the poor V8 jeep engine before it pops. Or are you going to do a swap?
For all the confused people out there... getting rid of the axle, t case, and drive shaft will cut weight by a hundred pounds or more.

i am thinking of doing a stoker bottom end and i am putting a cam in it and doing a sts turbo kit or even a twin turbo kit. it just depends on if i can do a true dual exhaust and keep it fuel injected but i haven't figure out how to add a o2 censer yet. and yes i have a lot of wrk to do. i have pics of the jeep in my build log but i need some info so i made this thread

I don't know the extent of your experience with drag racing builds but the cheapest and most effective solution to a motor build is either an aftermarket FMU if you keep FI or a carb with manifold.
Either one you could put a wet nitrous system on and have large gains for the moolah. After you blow up your motor you can build it up for real.
I would also (if I where you) strip out the ENTIRE suspension and drive line and invest in a proper street/strip trans and rear axle.
I'm not going to knock your build cause it is your car but.... how come a Jeep grand Cherokee? Just curious...

unless you go forced induction there isn't a snowflake's chance in heck you will get better MPG + more HP. The reduction in weight and possibly the reduction in drive line friction may help balance out the engine modifications.
Do you have a plan? What ET did you want to shoot for?

are you going to keep it? I thought you where an escort for a big rig or something...
If you use hazards instead you can save a few more pounds.
You know the thing about tires is.... when I drag raced my camaro I had slicks for the strip and street tires for normal... thing is I raced and ruined my street tires because I was either in too much of a hurry or lazy to put on the slicks.
Instead look into some MT ET streets or something you will get great traction on the strip and they are street legal.
