Old fart with a wrench
Look, Mr clean. I did not mean to **** you off. You are not dumb. I was meerly trying to share my experiences with alternative fuels. Ethanol fuels will burn exhaust valves on engines not equipted with Stellite valves as most DDs were not when they used leaded fuels. The old warbirds used liquid sodium filled valve stems to control the heat.
Today's vehicle engines and fuel systems are designed to be flexible and use feedback systems (02 sensors) to monitor engine performance. The lack of energy output from E10 will be compensated for by a richer mixture, thus less mpg.
My drag racing days were over when I got married in 1975. I had a G Stock 67 SS Camero with all the tricks. I did machine work for the national record holder in G Stock. That's all water under the bridge now as my priorities are maintaining 2 DDs for my family. MPG is a major concern.
I am impressed with your knowledge as most posters don't even open the hood before asking questions. Peace. frenchdragon.
Oh! Another thing. I want to see a jet airplane that burns biodiesel!
