5211 vs 5218
I've been looking up parts for a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L and they are asking if it's a 318 5211CC or a 318 5218CC. How can I tell which one I have?

Searching I've found that those numbers 5211 and 5208 (not 5218?) are a reference to the engine emission system. Supposedly the number can be found on the emissions sticker under the hood.

Go to Ebay motors and type in a new vehicle for your "garage". 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee it will ask you for three different engine choices. 4.0, 5.2 5211CC and 5.2 5218CC. Did they make a diesel? LOL

It looks like the 97 5218 is a .100 mm overbore. It may be part of the block number. That's only about .005".
