98 Grand Cherokee Laredo power loss
I've got a 98GCL that loses power at random times and at different throttle positions that goes away when I get out of the throttle and get back in it. I've given the Jeep a tuneup (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and air filter) with no change and could use some help if you guys don't mind.

I was going to change the fuel filter along with the tuneup because I'm sure it's never been changed since new but couldn't find it, I was told that I had to drop the fuel tank to find the filter. Is it possible the fuel filter could be the culprit?

188,000 miles on it and it has had this hesitation problem since I got it 7,000 miles ago.
I've been told it could be bad O2 sensors, screws inside ecm, or ecm connections, haven't had time to check it out lately but will be working on it soon before snow flies here.

Did a google search and was told there is no inline fuel filter, the filter is inside the tank on the pump and requires no service but then someone posted it's on top of the tank, does it have 1 or not?

Replace your TPS I had the same issue and tried a lot of different things and it turned out to be my TPS. Check your check engine codes with the key, if you get a 21 then its the TPS. Mine was about $36 and I have a 93ZJ and after that, all problems solved.

you might want to replace the cam position sensor also. it is located on the back of your transmision bellhousing on the top driver side. do not pay 300-400 dollars to have replaced. i changed mine laying flat on the ground with a wrench. changed mine in less than 4 minutes. helps to have someone up top to help you re-route wire to connector. you will find it near the oil filter and above the starter area. plastic electrical connector that you will see tiny wire running behind your engine down to the transmission. this thing will cause all kinds of engine problems. your fuel regulator and everything else is unfortunately located on your fuel pump on the top of your gas tank. if it's like mine, you can access it through the cubby hole beneath your spare tire. also, the 97's had a recall on the electrical connector to the fuel pump module on top of the fuel pump. if the motor runs great except for when you step on the gas, it could be a vacuum leak/ fuel leak. that is one of the side effects of this defective part. it's listed as recall id# 49594. you have a 98, but whose to say it can't happen.
