98 jeep grand Cherokee tsi srt8 swap
The title says it all I am looking to swap the original 5.2 v8 with a 5.7 srt8.
Curious as to what imma need to do to make that work?

I can bet that the entire swap and fab needed would be outrageous. Youre better off swapping a built sbc.
And this should be moved to chat..there is no build going on...yet

It would be a fraction of the cost and you wouldnt have much fab work.
Spending 8-10k on just the motor and swap is just stupid in my opinion(especially on car that is 15 years old), and I highly doubt that the trans and transfer case will just "bolt in" so you have to take that into account, as well as getting custom shafts made and all the wiring, which is the biggest pain. It will be more of a chore than it will ever be worth. Jumping from a 5.2 to a 5.7 is a decent gain, but not a 10 thousand dollar gain.

OR
here is an idea:
Do a little research yourself and find other swaps that would work.
a 5.9 is pretty much bolt up from what I read and I guarantee has more aftermarket support due to being cheaper, more common, and older than your "5.7" or whatever it was.
There has been threads on this already. I have seen threads on here about it, as well as pirate and other Jeep forums.

1.) Do you already own the SRT8 motor and transmission behind it and their wiring harnesses and computers, free and clear?
2.) Are you skilled in metal welding, metal cutting, metal fabrication and vehicle wiring yourself?

What u think bc my post count is low i dont know anything. Ur ignorant. I dont have time to argue with punks... on forums... i was gonna tell him about the 5.9 swap... or since he said he had 8-10k might as well make it a 408.. im closing in on 300k on my 44re/5.2 so i mean if the money is there thats what i'd like to do. Sorry i learn from real word not forum surfing.... i was backing u up very gently i would say so idk what ur deal is but lets not make the mistake of thinking someone has no knowledge on a subject bc they dont go into it.. let the kid build his "super" sleeper
I was talking to the OP about better options. Nothing I said was directed at you, other than me agreeing with you.

I don't claim to be an expert on SRT8 motors or swapping them into other vehicles but, just a quick look around the internet I saw pricing anywhere from $5500.00 - $7000 just for a USED SRT8 motor. I have done a few V-8 swaps into rigs never ment to have V-8s from the factory. All required pieces can start adding up quick. Transmissions that can stand up to high performance motors usually go for almost as much or as much as the motor irself. You do the math.

Just read through 5 different SRT8 engine swap threads. The average was about $25,000.00 and these were all guys who did the work themselves....so that was just for parts. So...umm, yeah I'd say his 10K would get ate up pretty darn fast once he starts buying ALL the parts and pieces required for the complete job. Even faster as it appears he will need to pay for some knowledgeable help to get it done.
