my 99 Laredo was being working on by a mechanic friend who unhooked the battery while they replaced the oil pan. when they hooked the battery back up my gauges worked for about 5 seconds then quit plus the engine wouldn't run properly (over charging from Alt.). after several tests it was determined that the PCM was bad and it was replaced. the engine runs fine now but the gauge problem still remains. about 5 seconds after you turn the key on after the battery is freshly hooked up they quit. no codes. the voltage gauge goes up a fraction but that's it. the alternator is putting out 12-14 volts now that the PCM is changed. cant find any blown fuses and grounds have been cleaned. please help.

update-- I found 5 ground points plus the battery. 3 on the fenders and 2 on the engine block. i cleaned them all with a wire brush but still no gauges. If i turn the key on real slow they come on but not for more than 5-10 seconds. like its running a check and it fails so they shut off. windows still not working either.

Did u ever figure out the problem. Reason I'm asking. I recently bought a 98 jeep Laredo and I'm having the same problem. Was u able to fix the problem if so please let me know cause it's driving me crazy. I'm about to tryed installing a new ground straight to the gauges.
