Problem started several months ago, simply as a high idle problem. Starts good, idles between 1100 and 1200 rpm. Mechanic went thru all the common stuff. No vacuum leaks, changed the throttle position sensor, changed the idle air control NO HELP. didn't have time to look further. New mechanic went thru the same thing: again no vacuum leaks also changed the TPS and the IAC. In the meantime the idle has gotten worse sometimes as high as 1500. One of the problems is that nothing is consistent.. Third mechanic checked everything out and after changing the TPI for the 3rd time declared it fixed. It was idling at 700 when I picked it up. A few days later I started it up (700 rpm), drove 150 yards stopped to open my gate (1100 rpm) and as I was opening the gate the idle started surging from 1200 to 1400 every few seconds sometimes as high as 1600! Next time I stopped it idled at 700. The next day it ran properly. The next day the idle was again high and erratic. And that has been the case now for several weeks. Runs properly for a day or two, then goes haywire.. HELP !!!!
