Hey everyone, first time posting. I wanted some advice before I went and picked up my first Jeep. I’ve read some of the stickies on the forum and have been a mechanic most of my life. I’m well aware of what to generally look for in a used vehicle. I wanted some advice that specific to these vehicles.

specs :
1993 grand Cherokee limited with 123k on the clock.
5.2 v8 w/ np242 t case
new 31’s sitting on 17’s uknown what kind

the vehicle was a daily until it was parked two months ago and it won’t start now. The seller asked 1k cash for it.

any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum.

The ZJ is a great vehicle, especially for those who turn their own wrenches.

The are a bunch of well documented issues that are straightforward to resolve.

The biggest potential walk away issue may exist on that vehicle. This is a unibody and in northern climates the road salt can cause severe problems.

If the body is sound, then all the other issues can be fixed.

For a no start condition the first step is measurement of the fuel pressure. Also the security system can prevent starting, especially after a low battery issue.
