Axle shaft help
I snapped my axle shaft on front passenger side when I rolled my jeep. Will my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee axle shaft work in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Spline count should be different as well. I think 97+ is one spline, while 96- is another on the XJ platform. so an axle shaft coming from a 2000+ GC would be the same as the 97+ XJ.

All Dana 30's use a 27 spline axle, even the JK.
As to a 2k, don't think so it will be wider, and typically the WJ uses CV Joints.
I've seen CV and U-Joints both used on the ZJ.
My old 97 ZJ Limited V8 AWD used CV joints.
This 98 Laredo I have now uses U-Joints.
If you can find an axle from an XJ it should work...
