Check your timing. Had a similar occurrence of a buddies Jeep. That's what it ended up being in his case.

What about a cracked head? I believe some '99 Grands had the 0331.

Dude... Take this one step at a time. Get it to a trustworthy shop to deal with whatever might be throwing those codes. You are skipping around all over the place wanting to clean this or replace that.... Just get it diagnosed and fixed. Then you can start knocking out the maintenance you are wanting to do.

Yea man...It may seem like I'm jumping around to you, but it all makes sense to me. I'm not paying labor for something I'm capable of doing. That's why I'm asking for advice on this forum. My jeep isn't throwing codes since I cleaned the engine ground and battery posts...pretty sure I posted that already..So my next plan of attack is my cracked fuel injectors (seems logical) I've read that hesitation in the motor can be caused by this very problem. Since I'm going to replace the injectors, I feel it may be worth having my fuel lines / fuel filter replaced to keep the new injectors from getting clogged up...seems like a pretty linear process in my head.

I also don't see why I would pay someone to tell me that i need to replace my fuel injectors when they are visibly cracked and I can identify the problem for free...am I missing something?

I figured most of you guys can appreciate someone who is into DIY and I am grateful for the input.

How do I check the timing?

I just ordered a Hanes manual. This should help in the future

Maybe I misdiagnosed your diagnosing. If you have a plan, have at it... Just didn't want you throwing money at anything til the codes were dealt with. And no, you didn't post that they were clear. You also never posted that your injectors are visibly cracked. Hence, why diagnosing over the Internet is difficult, especially when the process doesn't come across as "linear" in your posts.
