Battery Drain problem with locks/windows/etc
98 Grand Cherokee Limited. Battery will drain down after a day of sitting idle
The current draw with everything turned off is about 1/4 amp (.22).
I've narrowed it down to all that is coming off the 50 amp fuse in the Power Distribution Panel. If I pull this fuse, the current draw is almost nil.
The manual says this controls:
Memory Functions
Power Windows
Power locks
Power mirrors
Remote Keyless entry
and
Trailer towing
If it has Remote Keyless entry, I don't have a fob
It has no trailer hitch, so I'm guessing no towing package.
The power windows and power mirrors all work.
The power door locks do not (well the front passenger side door works and the rear passenger side door makes noise).
I read a thread here that said to check the sensor on the rear hatch glass but now all of a sudden it won't release with the button under the glass.
I'm recharging the battery now to see if that helps.
So that brings up two questions:
1. How do you release the back glass if the button doesn't work?
2. Any additonal thoughts on the battery drain problem

Welcome to CF. The '97 ZJ I had, and the '04 WJ I still own both used a 50 amp fuse in the Power Distribution Center under the hood called the Ignition Off Draw fuse. This link will explain what it does: >-> http://www.wjjeeps.com/fuses.htm
Scroll down to read about it. That's for the WJ but you get the idea.
I'll send you a Private Message.

Maybe check that the door switches are OK, especially the one on the tailgate latch. It's a dumb arrangement, if it gets contaminated with water, it could have a high leakage current. I discovered that when I replaced the interior lights with LED lights, and they wouldn't go off! There was enough leakage current to fully light up the LED lights (but not enough to light up a regular interior light. I removed it, cleaned and dried it, and coated it with grease.
