Blender Door Repair Kits

Old fart with a wrench
The problem with stop leak is if you leave it in after the leak has stopped, it will eventually plug the whole heater core. Over the years, and depending on the product, I've seen it even start to plug the radiator!

What year is yours? Mine is a 2000 with the single control. Let me know where you buy yours and how it goes. My Jeep is in California. I am in Hawaii. I am eager to get back to it and really see what is going on with it. It sounds like a fun project. I think I have found 3 different companies that sell the new doors. Pricing varies.
I hope my problem isn't the "recirculation door". That requires removing the dash. Not doing that. I just bought this vehicle and it needs a few things and I am willing to put the time and energy into it, but I don't want to pull that dash apart.
I am kind of concerned since I get a faint smell of coolant when I turn on the heat (the no heat) which suggests that the heater core has a small leak. If that can't be repaired by using some "stop leak " product. Its for sale.
Good luck.

The wj's have stepper motors. My last comment was intended for nwagtmustang . I believe the regular Cherokees do not have stepper motors.
2000 and 2001 (and some 1999) XJs have electric actuators for the blend door - no vacuum lines.

Totally cannot take away from your experience. And I have read that from others as well. I have not experienced that and nobody that I know personally has either. My experience was very different. I had an 52 Chevy pickup I bought very used and it came without a heater core. I picked up a used core and before installing it I took it to have it pressure tested. It came out clean. No leaks. Took it home and installed it. It leaked! Took it back and had it tested again. The guy couldn't find any leaks a second time. I was standing right there when he did both tests. Took it home. Leaked again. Bought a tube of Alumaseal , used it as directed. It not only stopped the leak. I had that truck for 16 years and it never leaked again. It did not adversely affect the rest of the cooling system either.
So that's my story and I am sticking to it. Maybe I'll get lucky a second time.
