Default Blown Head Gasket???

I recently took my jeep in to the shop for a radiator replacement. The mechanic said he thinks that my head gasket may be leaking. BUT he said that it should be ok. Should I be worried? Would driving the jeep make the leak bigger?? By the way theres a milky ring in my oil cap.

If you got water in oil then you need to have the head gasket replaced. Driving with will future damage engine. Sometimes changing the head gasket is not helping. You will take the head to shop to have them check for crack and warp. Most likely you engine is already damage from overheating. I would recommend to rebuild the engine or get one from junk yard.

The milky ring on your filler cap is probably condensation from not running the motor to operating temp. and keeping it there for a while. If the oil itself is milky then you have a problem like trucker said. What made the mechanic think that the head gasket is leaking?

The oil itself is not milky. It's only under the cap. Maybe it was because it was overheating for a while like drakan1908 said?

If the oil is clean but there is "milky oil" in cap then the engine was overheated at some time. It could be that someone replce the head gasket before and did a "**** poor" job. I would take the valve cover off and check the torque of head bolts. You will have to replace the head gasket if the bolts were out of torque speck. While having head off, take to a shop to check for warp or cracks.
