while on the subject... my fuse under the bonnet blows when the compressor is supposed to work. there is a single wire connection to the unit and when this is dissconnected the fuse stays intact... why would this happen?
i also trying using copper wire inplace of a fuse but arced out too bad... a definate short on the commpressor but i don't know how it works enough to trace it, any clues?

First lets figure out if your AC is working. The large line coming out of the brass box on the fire wall should be cold when running. If it is not, then the AC is undercharged. If it is cold and attracting moisture out of the air, then it might be a blend door problem which is maunally operated with a cable off he temp slider in the dash. Start thee and make sure it is attached and working on that end. If so you can look up the heater vent by the console or feel with a long object and see if the door moves.
