I went to a couple of places today to check into this. The Automatic Temperature Control system is electrically controlled, not vacuum controlled. So I looked at the pic of your ac control, and it has two large ***** with the dial temp setting, not three large *****. So you have the ATC system.
This is from my '97 ZJ FSM. It may be different in your '95 manual. The system can run a self diagnostic.

Where should I go from here?

If you didn't get a code showing the control head/assy. was bad, I'd say the cause of your issues in your 1st post would be the blend doors. That's a fairly common issue with the Grand Cherokees. >http://www.heatertreater.net/indextech.html#window

Does anyone have a link to or write-up for changing the '95 blend doors without removing the dash? (A hack method) I've seen them for the '98+: http://www.nc4x4.com/forum/index.php...re-dash.79583/ but not for the '95. I don't want to cut into the wrong part of the box.
Moreover, is this even possible in the '95? Or will I have to remove the dash and box?

I checked w/the dealer about this. They offer the blend door for your '95 ZJ w/ the ATC system, part # 501292AA (or 5012922AA sorry). Price $49.10.
They said it didn't look like you could repair it like the later models, thought you'd have to remove the unit to repair. I can't find any other info either way.
I would have thought they would be similar though, and you could.

Was hoping to hear I didn't have to take the dash apart and pull the box. The dash isn't too bad, just not looking forward to removing the box.. seems like a bit of a pain, with the heater & a/c hoses.
We'll see how it goes.
