My 2006 Grand Cherokee (142,xxx miles) shows a check engine light. The code says there is a cat. conv. issue. I took it to an exhaust shop expecting to have the converter replaces. They said it already had an aftermarket converter. They reset the warning lights and said to drive it. A day later, the light was back on. (I have to admit, I have to admit it has not been checked to see if it's the same code.)

The engine runs well and doesn't over heat or fail to rev up.

It seems to me that if the converter has been changed that at 142,000 miles it should not have gone through the second converter. But I'd like your thoughts on this.
