'clicking' sound when turning that isn't the CV joints?
Hey everyone, my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (v8 Quadra-Trac) started making a clicking sound when turning sharply left and right, it does not make the sound when driving straight, accelerating, decelerating, etc. I figured it to be the CV joint, especially since when I got under there the passenger side's boot was cracked. So this morning I went out and replaced both CV joints just to be safe, but it is STILL making the sound! I don't think it would be the drive shaft, don't see anything else particularly wrong with it. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Does the noise sound lik the front diff or transfercase. If from either diff if it has the Hydra-lok units in them it;c common when they start to go bad to make this type of noise. Replacement units are pretty costly and they do not sell parts to rebuild them. Lots of people will switch out the hydra-lok for a standard unit and replace the axles with the standard offset axles.

If you remove the tire and turn the rotor will it make the noise? How about when then wheel is turned. Maybe lift it all the way off the ground and put it in drive and see if you can get it to click. If it wont click with it off of the ground i would start looking into ball joints or tie rod ends.
