I assume it's a grand cherokee since i didn't see any info in your profile!! If so check your upper control arm bushings.

Ya it's a 99 grand n I'm pretty new to this so what is that where is that n wat am I looking for. N jus reiterate the noise is like a clunk/creaking n only happens when I'm shifting from park to reverse n a little when I shift from reverse to drive. There is no noise after that, it's during the shift n while I release the brake to start reversing

Ok so I jus got my rear axle seal fixed and the rear caliper replaced cuz it seized up. I had the differential drained n filled up. BUT I still have this clunk when I release the brake from shifting into reverse. Ok so I push down the brake pedal I shift into reverse than I release the brake to start moving n theres a creaking noise n a bit of a clunk n it's coming from the rear. Is it rear u joints or rear driveshaft anyone plz help.

it might be your pinion yoke might need to be takin off shimmed and re put on and tightened cuz thats what mine was so when i would release break the yoke would hit the gears together causing the clunk its not super bad just get it looked at whenever you can

Sounds to me like its the U Joints. I would change both its easy and cheap. If it was the pinion it would be whinning while driving. I had the same problem on my 94 ZJ
