Default Differential gasket

Thinking about changing the gear oil in my 04 GCL 4.0l differentials. I've never done it before and wondering if both front and rear diff gaskets are the same? With a quick look online I'm finding only one stlye of gasket, but some places the description says it's for the rear diff. while other don't specify. I believe I have a Dana 30 in the front and a Dana 35C in the rear and just want to make sure I don't waste time getting the wrong parts.

Red High heat RTV is the best way to go. oil and water resistant. Get yourself the can style that comes out like cheese wiz makes the job super simple. I have never even heard of a diff gasket lol. you cant get the wrong part and one can will do both covers with plenty left over.

Lmao. It is just like cheese wiz. I'll have to look for that.

OP if you don't feel like using RTV there is Lube Locker gaskets.

Honestly the RTV never crossed my mind. I watched some videos on how to change the fluid on the diff. and everyone was using gaskets so I figured that was just the norm. Is it true the Lube Lockers are reusable and as great as the description say? If so I wouldn't bat an eye at the price.

They say they're NOT re-usable but everyone does. Now I don't know how many times you can re-use them but I imagine its enough to justify the cost.

I use RTV but I'll be putting lube lockers on my wheeler, since I'll be in the diffs more often.

You shouldn't. That's pretty much the exact info given on the FAQs page for Lube Locker. Lol

Lol, I meant to see how many times people have re-used them successfully.
