Default Failing Power Steering Pump??

Problem just started last week.. At low speeds the steering wheel gives resistance and makes hydraulic sound, but only when turning left.. As soon as the cherokee reaches a speed of around 10mph there is no resistance. I normally just notice it in parking lots and other low speed scenarios.

Check fluid level first. Go from there.

It may be just pump pressure valve.

I had a problem with my 2000 WJ that might be related to yours. My steering damper came loose and slid down the tierod causing me to loose 1/2 turn of the steering wheel when turning right and scraping on the right wheel when turning left. It's just clamped to the tierod with a circular clamp and it slid off the connector. Fixed it in about 10 minutes with two combo wrenches.
