Default Failure Camshaft Crank

Hi I have a 98 Grand Cherokee Laredo with 160k miles and I keep getting the code reading "Failure Camshaft Crank". Symptoms include rough idle, loss of power, lower fuel mileage, imtermmit stalling, and it did have a problem with too rich fuel. I've replaced the sensor with an OEM part and I still get the code and the symptoms. Any suggestions?

The Grand Cherokee forum is over here. This section is for Cherokees. You'll probably get better answers over there.

You have a distributor in that year? Likely the cam position sensor, located in the distributor.

Check the bearing for the distributor rotor shaft and see if it has lots of play side-to-side. Also check the wire harness for frayed or broken wires to the distributor.
