Default Gas smell when restarting after warm

This is a new one. Seems my WJ is just hitting me high and low the last few weeks!

After running a bit, if I stop for a few minutes, then start up again, I smell gas in the passenger compartment. No obvious leaks that I can see. (But then, I usually park on gravel, so might have missed it.)

No clue where to start on this. Suggestions?

An exhaust leak before the catalyst converters can have a pungent fuel smell, and be drawn in via the HVAC system.

I read to look at the oil filler cap o-ring, as it can give off fuel vapors there.. I do not know it is a very likely reason compared to something else like having an exhaust leak, or an actual fuel leak though?

An exhaust leak might smell a lot like fuel vapors if it is leaking before the catalyst converter, and it is probably worth checking on, but if that was the case I think you might also smell some of the actual exhaust fumes too?

If it is a fuel line, or is actual fuel leaking out from somewhere causing the gasoline odor.. It would be good to find it, since this could definitely be dangerous, and it could cause a fire or an explosion to occur.

I would check the injectors, especially the o-rings.

Big leaks in the engine compartment can definitely cause odors to enter into the cabin. When the passenger side radiator neck repair gave way awhile back I noticed it introduced a sweet coolant smell into the cabin even with the windows rolled up. I had the a/c on high. That was in the rear passenger side where the coolant smell would blow off towards. It was mostly vapor coming out I think?

Good thought, Troy. I'll check that out. Thanks!
