grand cherokee front axle selection?

im picking up a grand cherokee front axle on friday for free from my buddy that works at a dealer. do all Grand cherokees come with dana 30s? or 98+ did they come with something different. Will it work in my xj?

Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter

D30 is the only one.

Model: Grand Cherokee

Engine: 5.2 w/mods

D30 it is and it is also a low pinion axle were as the XJs had a high pinion.
