i bought my jeep a month ago 04 jeep grand cherokee laredo.... i recently had to change the fuel pump, then last night it was idiling while i was waiting on my food and smoke and water started coming out. i let it cool off then put antifreeze in it. then it ran okay, but now it's overheating again....

the way you check them is get vechicle warmed up around 210 shut motor off open hood and spin the fan by hand it should not spin free there should be some tension felt when you sp[in it

could the overheating and the liquid coming out of it last night be the reason why it's doing this... the mechanic only put water in it... I don't know if that could be a reason.

using only water will not cause a over heating issue you seem to have a cooling issue when you are riding and the temp goes down there is air flowing thru the radiator when sitting there is no air moving this is when the fan clutch comes into play it pulls air thru thr radiator while idleing and slow driving

okay thanks so much, would i be able to drive it home sometimes it shoots up to the red ....and i'm at school and live 50 miles away from where the vehicle is now. i just don't want to cause expensive damage...

not fixing this will cause damage,iif this is the problem basic wrenchs will replace it they can be purchased at most auto parts stores you will also need a fan clutch tool autozone rents them and sells the part
