HELP!!!
Hey guys I need your help. I just bought a 2001 XJ(4.7L V8). It idles super rough, the oil kinda smells like gas. It sat for around 2 years but when we started it then it shot a little bit of black stuff out of the tail pipe. The guy who owned it before me said that he took it to get the exhaust replaced, it ran fine after he got the exhaust replaced, but then a few days later the car started acting the way it does now. Low to no power, rough idle.

My guess would be to check that the wiring to the O2 sensors didn't get damaged and isn't laying against the exhaust.
