Ok guys,
I'll really like to get this fixed now. Here are the symptoms again. I don't want to keep throwing parts at this...
1998 Grand Cherokee 4x4 5.2L V8 with no modifications (lifts or anything)
...any longer, but I don't mind having something redone if you think it's worth it.
Here are the symptoms:
1. ANNOYING Vibrations between 35-45MPH
2. I feel it when I'm accelerating or Decelerating
3. There's a "clunking" sound when going from R-D and D-R (Not sure if it's related)
4. There's a slight "wobble" at speeds of 60+ (barely noticeable)
Here's what I've done so far:
New Tires
New Brakes
New Rotors
Balanced Wheels
New Tie Rod (inner and outter)
New Track Bar
New Wheel stud (one was broken)
Fully Serviced
New U-Joints
Muffler (just listing all the things I've done in the past month)
After hearing the clunking between gears I was going to change the Engine and Tranny mounts but the jeep idles perfectly. There's no vibrations or shaking when sitting in traffic. Besides, I changed them about 3 years ago.
I didn't feel too bad buying these things, cause each of them needed to change anyway. Jeep ran perfectly well for the past 4 years. What else can cause the symptoms I've described. Should I redo any one (or more) of the above?

Can a bad control arm or bad bushing cause the vibration? Can I tell if one is bad by just looking. One was squeaking and a couple squirts of WD40 cleared that right up. Can it be the cause?

I think your problem is more than the steering dampner... I would bet it's the bushings in one or more control arms sometimes its hard to see if they are bad or not.

Should I change them anyway? Are they hard to change? Like I said, one of them were squeaking and I spritz it with a little WD40 and squeak was gone. Should I replace the entire Control Arm or just the bushing?

You can check the control arms by getting a pry bar or something that you have lying aroung that will fit in between the control arm and the mounting bracket, just stick that in there and pry on it and if it moves around a lot then that would be a good sign that your problem.

Sorry for so many posts... You can also check the steering shock by unbolting one side (or take it all the way out if easier) and try to push it in and out it should be very tight, and check that there is no play when it is bolted up.
