Question Help Locate

I am looking for whatever it is that the two wires of the amient air temp sensor of a 1996 0r 1997 Grand cherokee plug into, which on their wiring diagram is called a mini-trip computer. I am installing a 1996 overhead console in my 1990 xj (Cherokee Limited) and want to get the temp feature working. Also so far it only will show N NE or E, Any ideas? I did the 3 circle thing with no effect and thought that getting the temp working might solve that too.

I also am looking to find out what the 1990 xj ac hose between the drier and the expansion valve is called as well as the hose that connects to the bottom of the drier and I assume goes to the condensor as it is heading that direction. Knowing what they both are called will sure help me to be able to locate them before removing them and driving all over the place or paying 50 plus dollars for just one of them like the guy at the local (Fayetteville, NC) O Riley wants and did not tell me what it was called.

for the compass calibration.

You have to put it in calibration mode. You do that by holding both the step and us/metric buttons down for about 10 seconds until you see VAR. Select your variance

As for the temp sensor the board that controls that is in the overhead console you will need to have a temp sensor plugged in to the connector by the grill area or under the headlight.

I have a 94 JGC and for mine on the green harness plug it was the light green wire with white stripe and the dark green wire with the red stripe. I was told for mine that the wiring was already there and would just have to connect the sensor. It was not but the front had been wrecked before so I just ran new wires and grabbed a sensor plug at the JY. Not sure if this helps you at all but I figured I would throw it out there for you.

Thanks Max that was a great help with the compass part! I do have the 1996 temp sensor and have it plugged into the connector for such at the front. I have isolated those 2 wires, but there is no part of the overhead console (the red connector only has 6 wired to attach something to and none of them are for the ambient air temp sensor) so on the grand cherokee they are plugged into something else and that is going to that red plug. So I am still looking to find out what the something else is that a "Normal" Hookup on a 1996 would be so as to get the parts integrated into my 1990.
