I just put a new system in my GC on last Friday! I just pulled the HU and there is plenty of holes to run RCA's down by the pedals. The toughest part is running speaker wires through the stock rubber protector between the door and cab.
ALWAYS use thicker wire than you think you will need. Just in case you upgrade down the line!

If you have a sub you should be powering it off an amp so you'll need to run RCAs like Bubba said. Just hook them up to the deck and run em anyway you can through the dash and then under the sill plates. Doesnt really matter where they go long as the make it to the back.

Dont waste your time. The head unit wont have enough power to move such a big speaker. Thats why you buy and amp. Plus the signal from the head unit is high and low, you just want low to a sub. You can get a decent sub for around $150, just save up and buy one. You might even ruin your head unit trying to force it to power the sub.

I guess enjoy till you blow it all up!
FYI...
4ohm and a 8 ohm speaker pulling of a single HU channel! Think about the load you are pulling off that channel! Subs are designed to have a low pass filter! You need to do a little more research!

Stereo HU put out 50watts if they are really good! And like Bubba said the load your gonna put on the head unit it gonna but it out. It not ment to run a 12" 150watt sub. Save up for an amp cuz it'll be cheaper then having to replace your HU and subs. Check out ebay or craigslist, they always have that stuff cheap.

So for instance my JVC HU says 250 X 4 (watts). I would bet it truely puts 15 watts to a speaker, not the 62.5 that it says right on the face plate.

Thats 50 max not RMS huge difference. Most good HU's are in the 20 - 30 RMS range, and that is on 14V most of the times, so under normal conditions 15 -25 watts.

Make sure you put an inline fuse on the pos wire, the closer to the battery the better. Also, the RCA cables, keep them away from any positive wires. You could get interference, and get to listen to a really annoying high pitch. Good luck on the install, it shouldn't take you too long. Just be careful when pulling apart the interior not to break any of those stupid plastic clips. Not very expensive, but kind of annoying.
