Final - embarrasing Solution...
Uh, we found an old key copy that worked.
First I decided not to do this myself. found a locksmith for very reasonable price, under $100. After mulling it over, the thought of buying tools for what is most likely a one time event, doing it myself, taking loads of time, I went with the locksmith.
So he arrives and as we're talking, my better half goes inside and reappears with a key - that I'd not seen - we put it in, voila! It works!
Sigh... moments of elatoin and confounding confusion, uh dear, why didn't u tell me about this key before?
So, no need to tear apart, buy a bunch of tools. Lesson learned...
Better communication,
Tossed the bad copies in trash(they worked before, but were not coded, must cheap copies),
Had more good coded copies made
Finally, we now have a place where our keys are stored and we both know where they are.
Take away, coulda been much worse and cost more. Now I can work on this old jeep and will hopefully be making more relevant post in the future.
