My first Jeep I never had problems with it overheating but I did put a lower thermostat in I live in FLA. I wouldn't have done it if I knew there would be a problem. I'm thinking it was a 160 but it's been 6 yrs I will run the lower thermostat in my other Jeep just hadn't gotten around to doing anything

You can tighten up your steering. At the top of the steering gearbox is a nut assembly. There is an outer lock-nut. You loosen the lock-nut. Then, take an allen wrench directly to on top of that nut.. Turn the allen wrench clockwise 1/8th of an inch. Tighten down the locking nut. Then, check the steering. It should improve. 1990's vehicles are older now, and this certainly is something I would consider appropriate to do on an older higher mileage vehicle. But, just be careful that you do not overtighten this here or the steering will bind up. Back it off a little if you bind it up tightening too much is all. You can cause damage here though if you do not use common sense. Take it easy to see if it is steering good without binding right after adjusting, and only go 1/8 inch or so tightening it up at a time. It is basically a ring and pinion gear set-up inside of the box. You should not need to tighten it much. It would be bad to keep on tightening it down if there was no problems here, if the steering was loose because of an issue somewhere else that needed to be taken care of first.

I do not believe you should be putting in a lower than factory specs thermostat. They are designed to run optimally at a certain temperature range...
